Description
Álvaro vases is a variation of four containers developed as a result of the studio's Álvaro collection of objects. The vases take up the characteristic pattern of this collection in XL format. They offer a set of playful objects to compose according to your desires.
This object is made in 3D printing in our studio from recycled and recyclable plastic bottles as well as industrially compostable bioplastic made from corn starch (rPETG + PLA).
rPETG is a polymer obtained from recycled plastic bottles, for 1kg of rPETG 79 plastic bottles are recycled.
We work in partnership with the company Reflow filament based in Amsterdam which produces this material in the Netherlands. Objects made in 3D printing with rPETG can be recycled at least 5 to 6 times following the same process. That's why we chose to work with materials made by Reflow, because whenever possible we want to make objects from recycled and recyclable raw materials.
PLA is a bioplastic obtained from corn starch, which makes it a natural alternative to polyethylene. It is called bioplastic because PLA is made from natural raw materials, which makes it a recyclable, biodegradable and industrially compostable material. Indeed, PLA can be recycled to be transformed again into raw material or it can be industrially composted (+60°C, humid environment and presence of micro-organisms) and decompose into water, CO2 (in aerobic conditions) and non toxic by-products for the environment. This is why we have chosen to work with materials manufactured by Francofil (France), EuMakers (Italy) and Eolas (Spain), as we wish to manufacture objects that can at least be recycled.
